What is PBS at our school?
We have adopted a unified set of schoolwide expectations. You will see these expectations posted throughout the school and your child will be learning them during his or her days at school. Our unified schoolwide expectations, found in every classroom and non-classroom setting in the school, are as follows, followed by the schoolwide PBS Matrix:

PBS Matrix
The Matrix is a unified set of school rules, also known as our SOAR expectations. These rules define our expectations for behavior in our school. You will see these rules posted throughout the school and your child will be learning them during his or her days at school. The students and teachers at Mathews Elementary are using the SOAR expecations to focus on learning, and to also enhance character ethics. Please read the SOAR expectations with your child. Your support and reminders will help your child be a successful learner at Mathews Elementary.
As a class we have decided what the SOAR expectations will look like in our own classroom. As a class we have come up with the following expectations in our classroom.
Safe- No running, stay in seat unless it is a "3B" or instructed by teacher.
Outstanding Learner- Always giving 110% in attitude and school work.
Respectful- Talk and treat everyone in a respectful manner.
Responsible- Students will be responsible for all homework and staying organized.
Recognition System
A recognition system has been established to recognize students who demonstrate the behavior expectations.
- SOAR Bucks are given by any school staff to students who demonstrate these expectations.
- Classroom Incentives are also earned by students who demonstrate appropriate behavior.

- Receive verbal and non-verbal praise on a daily basis
- Have their name drawn for prizes at Monthly Character Boot Camp
- Attend a PBS “Big Event” at the end of the quarter
